Russell Rosander was born in Kinsberg, Ca. in 1947. He briefly attended the Art Center
College of Design and Chouinard Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles and worked as a graphic artist and illustrator in Hollywood. In 1970 he moved to a commune in Southern Oregon, and then to Hope ID. in 1972.
In the mid-seventies he met and worked for Ed and Nancy Kienholtz. His works were featured in " The Art Show" an environmental piece created by the Kienholtz' at the Louisiana Museum of Art in Humlebaek, Denmark in 1978.
Other major exhibits include, "Sawtooths and Other Ranges of Imagination " at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., also the "Inland Empire" exhibit , 1986 at the Braunstien/Quay Gallery in San Francisco. He has also shown at the Boise Gallery of Art and the Cheney Cowles ( now the MAC) in Spokane.
He received the "Best of Show" awards in both the Northwest Juried Art exhibit, and the Juried Exhibition for Idaho Artists in 1983.
He designed tee shirts prints for 15 years in Sandpoint and for the past 11 years has worked with the developmentally disabled in Bonner and Boundary counties.
