This is a collection of artwork by Julie R Hutslar called Portal of Ascension that represents not only her own personal spiritual journey, but reflects the collective unconscious in all of us and our innate desire to find our highest self. This body of work illuminates places and moments where we as humans can touch the face of divinity and sense a momentary doorway to connect. Her authentic relationship with Nature allows Ms. Hutslar to offer a brief glimpse of the many avenues to connect to our highest selves. They can be found in the sun’s gentle profoundness on a cold mountain stream or in a young girl’s exuberance and joy as she twirls in the warm sun.
Julie uses the theme of water, sun and emotion to bring the viewer into a moment of sharing, sharing what is always there, but we rarely stop to notice. She finds the moments where shadow and light exchange intimacies and allows us to participate in this delicate, yet common occurrence of the natural world. This body of work subtly joins things together. It is a perfect balance of relationships; of light and dark, depth and foreground, empty space and color. All of these represent the many sides of our spiritual self. They illustrate the importance of balance in our journey. It is not all light, the importance of darkness along the soul’s journey provides the contrast and intensity, as well as often times the integral learning necessary for growth.
Many years of facilitating energy healing work have undoubtedly bled over into Julie’s professional art career. As she strives to find balance in her life and also fulfill the spiritual contracts she holds, her artwork is another form of the message she brings of showing ways to find our own divine natures. Her works bestow such a calm and serene quality upon viewing them, that we stand knowing in our hearts we are all connected, even if for a brief moment of beautiful union, with all living things. Her message is that even in the most simplest of common objects, we find all things…including us. Can we then be separate from Nature, from the Divine?
